Projector is Not Showing Content
Q: Why is the connection between my computer and the projector unstable/unreliable?
Answer: This is almost always because of an adapter, though it could also be due to a loose input on the computer itself. Mac users need USB-C to HDMI adapters and those can fail, even the Apple brand ones.
The helpdesk keeps a stock of these adapters and ITS can examine any hardware issues with your computer. Contact us in the moment or when you have time at helpdesk@oxy.edu 323-259-2942.
Q: Why is the projector showing a blue screen?
Answer: When the projector shows a blue screen, the projector is on but it is not detecting an input to display.
Check the input setting on the lectern or wall panel. For your laptop it should either be set to "laptop" or HDMI when your laptop is plugged into the HDMI cable provided.
Example of an HDMI input cable:
Typical rooms have: Room PC, HDMI, VGA (not used much), and sometimes BluRay.
Q: Why is the projector showing a black screen?
Answer: A black screen means the projector is receiving the input but there is nothing to show. Sometimes the “black screen” projector mute button is on. Recently, digital copyright restrictions have made it difficult to stream content to a second monitor. The solution for this is to extend rather than mirror displays on the computer they are using.

Q: Why does the film I’m streaming only show up on my own computer?
Answer: Most streaming apps now block screen mirroring and recording. This includes Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and others. To work around this issue on a classroom AV system (whether projector or external flatscreen monitor) change the device settings to “Extended Display.”
